The Frequently Offered Answers for the LOJ Masquerade Ball

Costumes

Question: Are there restrictions on the kinds of costume that I can wear?
Answer: The LoJ is a classical fantasy masquerade with modern influences. Be elaborate, be imaginative and be different. Delve deep into the genre of Fantasy, Medieval, Victorian, Goblin, Carnival, Celtic and Faerie lore. As one of the most prominent Masquerades in North America, our themes blend Venetian Elegance with the Ilustrious realms of the Faerie Court. We relish this diversity. Imagination is encouraged and costumes are mandatory.

At bare minimum you must have formal wear and a Mask. (It is a MASQUERADE). If you have a question about your costume, it's always best to CONTACT us and ask online.

Some great resources for costumes can be found
on our Links area.

PRE-SHOW

Question: Is there going to be a Pre-Show Dinner?
Answer: The LOJ PreShow is a chance to meet the creators of the LOJ and enjoy the night with a different pace. VERY FEW tickets are available for the PRE-SHOW dinner each night and we offer those tickets for sale in March. They normally sell out within a few hours, so keep an eye on the website and check the mailing list for more information.

Question: Should I wear my costume to the Pre-Show?
Answer: Yes, as the Pre-Show dinner is only 1 hour before the show, you should definately bring your costume.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Question: Are Cameras allowed in the Masquerade?
Answer: Absolutely.

Question: If I have pictures from a past LOJ, can I submit them to the website?
Answer: YES! If you have photos from our events, please email us and we'll be glad to see them and perhaps use them on the website.
Email them to LoJ@labyrinthmasquerade.com

LOJ Questions

Question: I'm interested in being a part of LOJ, not just a spectator. Where do I offer my sword, hands or wings?
Answer: LOJ is built by an army of volunteer artists that dedicate their work and efforts to create this one night of dreams. If you think you'd fit in our ranks,
Send us a missive and tell us a little about yourself and what your think you'd be good at.

Question: Is it true that Strider is sleep deprived and completely lost in elftouched insanities ?
Answer: Sleep is an overrated form of rejuvenation, especially when you have aspirations like these plaguing your nights. . . but he's mapped these realms fairly diligently, so we hardly consider him lost. As the Lord of the Court and Host of the Masquerade, we'll have to let him catch up on his sleep sometime in August, after LOJ.

THE ROYAL COURT
OF SYPHER PRESENTS
THE MASQUERADE RULES

RULE NUMBER ONE:

Costumes or Formal Wear with Masks
are required of all mortals to enter these enchanted realms.

RULE NUMBER TWO:

Only those who obey RULE ONE
may forget rule three.

RULE NUMBER THREE:

Rule Three is always right, unless a goblin is involved; then Rule Three is questionable
and Rule Four is Right.

RULE NUMBER FOUR:

Respect is Key within the fair realms
of The Court. All manners must be minded and harm must come to none within our masquerade. The Hosts will ultimately decide on all matters in question.

RULE NUMBER FIVE:

Rule Five is in two parts. Part one reads:
"Regardless of Rule Three. . . Rule Four is Always Right".

The second part of Rule Five
is never written down.

RULE NUMBER SIX:

Is the Second RULE taught to the
Sypher Knights. Within these realms, their watchful eyes protect the Court and encourage the dreams, laughter and mirth that it seeks to create. Ask them if you must about Rule Number Six.

. . . do remember, this is a
Masquerade Ball my noble friends,
do not be afraid to give chase to dreams. . .

May inspiration fuel elaborate creations
and may you have magnificient time within my court.
-S.C. Strider
Lord of Sypher
